Why should medical facilities be concerned about medical grade standards?

Patient safety depends on it! UL 60601-1 deals with shock-prevention measures required for all electrical devices that could potentially come into contact with patients or staff in patient care areas—an enormous category that encompasses everything from lamps and televisions to computers and diagnostic equipment.  Just having a hospital-grade plug or line cord isn’t enough to achieve Medical-Grade compliance as well as just being tested and saying the UPS is compliant should not be considered sufficient, being certified is being compliant not simply tested and having medical grade receptacles and line cord, yes all of these things lead to compliance but being certified confirms compliance.
